FAQ
-
Are you the right therapist for me?
That’s a great question—I certainly hope so! I specialize in treating anxiety, OCD, relationship issues, shame, trauma, and faith-related concerns, and I work with individuals who value a thoughtful, relational approach to therapy. If you're unsure, we can schedule a free 15-minute consultation to talk through your needs and see if it's a good fit.
-
What approach do you use in therapy?
My work is rooted in evidence-based practices like Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). For clients who wish, I also integrate faith-based perspectives to support healing and meaning-making. Therapy sessions are collaborative, practical, and grounded in trust and compassion.
-
Do you take insurance, and what are your rates?
I partner with Headway to accept a variety of insurance plans. I also offer private-pay options that start at $150/hr if you prefer not to use insurance. Feel free to click the “scheduling” at the top of this webpage to be sent to my Headway profile page. From there you can input your insurance information and get a much better idea of cost prior to scheduling our first appointment.
-
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Your privacy is incredibly important to me. All sessions—whether in-person or virtual—are HIPAA-compliant, and your information is kept strictly confidential, with a few legal exceptions (such as immediate risk to safety, which we’ll review during our first session).
-
What is your availability and how do I schedule?
I offer virtual sessions Monday through Friday during daytime hours, with limited evening availability on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The easiest way for you to schedule with me is to click the “scheduling” like at the top of this page, but you can also reach out through my contact form or email me directly and we’ll find a time that works for your schedule.
-
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. I’ll ask questions to better understand your goals and what brings you to therapy, as well as leave you with a pretty good idea of what you could expect moving forward should you decide to continue. There’s no pressure to dive into everything at once—we go at your pace.
-
If you’re a Christian therapist, does that mean therapy will be religious? What if I’m not a Christian?
While my personal faith informs who I am, therapy with me is never about conversion or agenda. I work with clients from all backgrounds—Christian, questioning, spiritual-but-not-religious, or not religious at all. Some clients appreciate integrating faith into their sessions; others don’t bring it up at all. You set the tone. My job is to offer thoughtful, respectful support in whatever way is most helpful to you.

Does struggling with anxiety or mental health mean I don’t have enough faith?
Not at all. Experiencing anxiety, OCD, or emotional pain isn’t a reflection of weak faith—it’s a part of being human. Scripture is filled with examples of faithful people wrestling with fear, doubt, and despair. Mental health challenges are complex and often rooted in biology, trauma, or life stress—not spiritual failure. Therapy can be a powerful place to hold both your faith and your struggle with compassion and curiosity.

Do you really think I can get better? What’s the point of therapy, anyway?
It’s okay to wonder if change is possible—especially when you've been stuck for a long time. Therapy isn’t about quick fixes or toxic positivity. It’s about learning to relate differently to your thoughts, emotions, and patterns. It’s about building tools, deepening insight, and creating space for healing and hope. I’ve seen people move from survival to strength, even when they didn’t think it was possible. You’re not too far gone, and you don’t have to figure it out alone.
